CHAPTER 9 TEACHING KIDS FIRE SAFETY
We over-value good grades so our children can get good paying jobs but most working class jobs these days have the potential to lead to financial independence if we can overcome mindless consumerism.
1. The science of well-being. Teaching children what the scientific evidence reveals about what sort of pursuits lead to happiness and which do not.
2. Finance skills in real time with an eye towards financial independence.
3. The goal of happiness and the tendency for people to conflate pleasure and happiness.
Cheap considers only how much can be saved as the bottom line. Frugal is more about opting for what provides the most value. Once you’ve added in the costs of poor health and the costs of healthcare (doctor visits, meds, hospitalizations, etc), it is clear that real food is hands down the better option.
